Our Mission

The mission of the Library Media Center is to ensure that the students and staff at Deer Park Elementary School are independent and effective users of information. The program fosters an appreciation for literature and encourages reading for pleasure.

Student Access

The library media center is open to students during school hours for class lessons, circulation of books, independent and group research, recreational reading and media activities. Classes in grades PreK-3 have a weekly scheduled library time for a lesson/story/check out with Mrs. Farfan and will be able to select books to take home. Classes in grade 4-6 will visit the library every other week to check out books. Students have access to the library during school hours with teacher permission.

Notices

Overdue notices are printed on periodically. These notices are reminders that a student has an overdue book. Kindergarten and first-grade students are encouraged to return their books each week. The students will be given these notices and sent home in the Thursday folder as a reminder to return the books. Students can renew books if more time is needed.

Lost or damaged books

Students will be billed for books that are lost or damaged. If a lost book is found at a later date, you may keep the book as we are no longer able to refund your money.
