Our Mission

The mission of the Library Media Center is to ensure that the students and staff at Deer Park Elementary School are independent and effective users of information. The program fosters an appreciation for literature and encourages reading for pleasure.

Student Access

The library media center is open to students during school hours for class lessons, circulation of books, independent and group research, recreational reading and media activities. Preschool and classes in grades 1-4 have a weekly scheduled library time for a lesson/story/check out with Mrs. Farfan and will be able to select books to take home. Kindergarten will visit the library each week to check out books. 5th and 6th grade students will have a scheduled time every other week to check out books. Students also have access to the library during school hours with teacher permission.

Notices

Overdue notices are printed periodically. These notices are reminders that a student has an overdue book. Kindergarten, first and second grade students are encouraged to return their books each week. Overdue notices will be sent home in the Thursday folder or emailed to parents as a reminder to return the books. Students can renew books if more time is needed.

Lost or damaged books

Students will be billed for books that are lost or damaged. If a lost book is found at a later date, you may keep the book as we are no longer able to refund your money.
